# mnemEcho Pronunciation API

> Score Dutch speech against its text. Send a Dutch sentence (1 to 12 words) and a recording of someone saying it; get a 0 to 100 pronunciation score, a verdict (excellent, pass, marginal_fail, hard_fail), and every word and sound marked, with a short English tip on each wrong sound. Words said as another word are flagged (wrong_word). Audio is scored in memory and never stored.

Base URL: https://api.mnemecho.com/api/v1
Auth: `Authorization: Bearer <key>` or `X-API-Key: <key>`. Keys are free during early access, by request to hello@mnemecho.com.
Only pronunciation is graded on this endpoint; rhythm, pitch and vowel length need a native reference and are not graded. Voice quality is never graded.

## Endpoints

- `POST /score` multipart: `text` (form field), `audio` (file: wav, flac, ogg or mp3, at most 15 s and 4 MB). Returns score, verdict, words[].sounds[], worst_word, flags.
- `GET /health` with a key: your client name and limits.
- `GET /status` no key: `{"ok": true}` when the service answers.

## Tips for agents

- Send sentences of three words or more; a single word alone is often not heard (422).
- Write numbers as words ("twaalf", not "12").
- 422 "could not be heard" is not a low score: ask the speaker to try again.
- 429 carries `Retry-After` in seconds.
